Fairly nice overall experience. Cozy base for a 4-night stay. Superfriendly and respectful staff at all times. Lots of goodies for breakfast. Good location, a short way from Mercado de Fuencarral.

There were central heating, TV set, and a mini bar fridge in the room, greatly enjoyed that. The bed was very comfy and the staff were attentive.

    spacious room

    great location
    thin walls
    unwelcoming entrance

Casa Chueca has a great vibe and is super close to the Gran Via Metro station. The room was spacious and clean, equipped with a mini-fridge, tea kettle, and even a small table and chairs. There's a cute little plaza nearby with a Starbucks and some shops. I faced a couple of issues. The walls are quite thin, and I struggled to sleep due to noise from the next room-definitely something to consider if you're easily disturbed at night. Despite these drawbacks, the friendly owner, Mario, was always helpful. He even arranged a taxi for my early morning departure. The room came with good basic amenities, but the street noise can be troublesome, especially on weekends.

In fact I moved out of the hostel Casa Checa just on the second day of my stay for a number of reasons. I had until then a really nice experience with hostels in the north and in Santjago de Compostella, therefore I opted for a hostel also this time, in Madrid. I read beforehand the feedback given by other travellers for Casa Checa and I think I liked the idea that it promised a homelike/cozyatmosphere. However, the experience was not nice for me in the least, at first, there was no real window (which was not mentioned in the hostel description on the website of Booked.net), the window was looking at the corridor and was so low that anyone could with no effort peep in the room/bed. Second, the door could not be locked and on the top of that I found out that the bathroom had "transparent" walls, in fact they were made of thick glass, which I though at first that could be a smart interior solution as the room and the bathroom were nearly one, with hardly any space and no natural light. However, it proved not to be like that. Figures were waving at me while I was taking shower, light from the other neighbouring rooms was coming in all night long, let alone the sounds and voices. I moved out at once, without even giving it a second thought and found a three-star hotel which offered a normal single room, at the same price! By the way, Mario, the hostel keeper did make the effort to find out what had happened as he messaged me, however, he kept the whole sum of money, which was paid to him for the entire intended period of my stay. Disgusting...

A small cosey hostel. I had a nice room, very quiet because it wasn't on the streetside. Room was clean and cleaned every day. Receptionist was very friendly and personal; eg knew my name on arrival and always asked how things were, showed me a few places to eat, etc.

The walls of the bathroom have some tiles of glass through which you can see yr neighbours bathroom, something that doesn't really make sense. It's sort of blinded, but still made me feel uncomfortable. Wouldn't keep me from coming back though, since it's a very nice place, with good value for your money, on a good location and nice owners.

This hostal is super nice and in a great area close to the metro! My room was large and clean, equipped with a mini-fridge and tea kettle. There's even a cute plaza nearby with shops and a starbucks. It had a great vibe. The price was pretty good too, especially for the location!

The walls are thin, so i could hear the noise from the next room all night.

Friendly staff, comfortable room, with a convenient air conditioning system, made my stay enjoyable during the hot days and a relaxing space for breakfast at nearby cafes.

There was nothing I didn't like.

Excellent location. Reasonable value room for 35 Euros (though the guy on reception suggested it was normally 45, which would be a bit too much). Very friendly staff.

The bathroom was cramped, but at least it was ensuite.

A great location. Although it is located in the center of Chueca district (2 minutes walking to the subway), it is very quiet and I heard no noise coming from the street. The room was very confortable and ensuite. The staff was absolutely nice. We were received in the room with tea, coffee and cookies. There was a computer avaliable with free internet access.

There was a bad smell in the bathroom (I was not sure but something like cigarette). The was no lift in the building, what can be a difficulty if you are carring an heavy luggage.

Staff at the tour desk provided great information on Madrid's tourist attractions. They were like human guidebooks, offering insider tips and recommendations that made exploring the city a breeze.

    Noisy rooms at times.
